Story behind the song
There is actually a real story behind this song. I could actually write an explanation for every line of the lyrics.
The song is about something I was going through during the last few months of 2005. I don't want to go into too much detail, but the song sheds some light on it. I had strong bonds that were severed and the people doing the cutting never looked back. Music was something that helped me get through it (a little...).
I wasn't originally planning to put this up, it was just going to be for me. But since time has helped me get over it, I don't see why I can't show the world some dope lyrics to a dope beat (that sadly, isn't mine... credit to he or she that made it... the beat isn't mine, just to clarify, the song is all me [Thanks be to God for filling me with it]).
Let's innovate.
Lyrics
-I remember when my phone would shake 45 times in a day
That’s 15 smiles to my face
-Looking to the future, it would only get brighter
Nowadays I’m the dude tryin’a bum ya candle-lighter
-I was runnin’ till the earth shook
You want my raw story? Here’s the first look
-On top of the world, every day brought the love
All because of this girl, now it’s gone, that’s rough, life’s tough
-Had enough, brought an audience out their seats
Friends gone wrong running like a track meet
-Emotion as you smack me, took Hip Hop to bring back me
The late-night owl, prey on the lookout for the prowl
-A hunter, to those he loved, he was a gunner
A runner, was crushed the feelings of the summer
-A trip he had, but now he’s mad
Confused and sad, to lost, a dad
-Everything’s gone wrong, everything’s been changing
Alone cause of some people’s rearranging
-Explosions brought erosions to the life he knew
Sinned before, time to pay his due
-Secluded, social silence had intruded
Tried to shrug it off, but the problem’s deep rooted
-A little time off became a permanent thing
Clenched his fist around invisible rings
-A survivor, he couldn’t deny her
His mind would try to fight her
-The four walls held him back
He couldn’t understand, his mind would rack
-Self-attack, crazy thoughts sprung forth
Nothing left to do but question his own worth
-A drifter, desire turned to anger
Through it all, became a stranger
-His own best friend, in the end, was he
Ready, he’d be at work on the steady
-A Yeti, a legend of his own
Had some demons to dethrone
-Not dead yet, not exposing the red yet
The Drive, just needed places to direct it
-Found inside, rhythmic thoughts
Music brought him back by the grace of God
-Something to love, something to give him love back
A painkiller for all the feelings that stacked
-Perception of deception was a monster inside
All for one, could uncover the secrets that they hide
-The reasons that they lied, the choosing of the sides
He tried, had to blow this up wide
-He opened up his mind to the people he knew, the things we do
Why we do them, it just threw him
-Greed, deception, all a recollection, still didn’t answer his question
Giving up never was suggested, mind feeling tested
-Hate arrested, thoughts were vested
Put a smile on but his feelings were gone
-Journey’s been long, but he knows it’s a beginning
Second winning, another chapter for the spinning
-Pages torn, writes a song
Writes till dawn, he records in the morn
-Process, so enveloped he could never stop this
Makes the most, of free days to boast
-A Hip Hop host, forsaken by most
The star of the toast, the star of the roast
-He asks what’s left, commits the theft
He steals the hearts, it’s just the start
-Destroys the charts, creates the bonds
He makes the songs, he makes the songs
