Scattered by the wind
Craig Sofaly 2005
There had been mountains between their hearts
Swift waters that kept them apart
They had crossed oceans
To lay themselves down
On these hard cold shores
On this hallowed ground
If you look into my eyes
You’ll see the misplaced dreams of my youth
My face is etched with lines and each one tells the truth
Like good men before me
These hands have worked hard
These legs have carried me far
Through fields that I have known
And along the riverside
Where the wild flowers grow
For still at best I remain a child
For what it’s worth I am a man
I once believed in my fathers country
I chose to leave my motherland
I gave up being proud
And thinking it mattered
I gave up praying out loud
And like the windblown waves of amber
I’m scattered
I’m scattered by the wind
I don’t know if I’ll ever make back again
I’m scattered by the wind
