Story behind the song
In these verses we are told that God is love, and his love is so great that he sent his Son into the world so that we might have life through him. He is our friend, companion, guardian, and savior. If our heart is true and we trust in him, then he’ll abide in us. Ultimately, that wonderful example of God’s love is made perfect in us when we extend it to others. Our lesson is to love one another as God has loved us.
Lyrics
Perfect Love © 2002 Mark W. Muretisch I know You are my friend. On You I can depend. In times of need You came to me And You showed me Your perfect love. My life is in Your hands. I give You all that I am. My heart is true and I trust in You And You showed me Your perfect love. “If we love one another, God dwells in us, And His love's perfected in us.” Won't You please be my guide? I long to be by Your side. You paid the price by Your sacrifice And You showed me Your perfect love. And You showed me Your perfect love.
