Story behind the song
This is a story about an odd couple - he's a 60's leftover and she's retro...
Lyrics
Mark was a celebrated 60's man He tied his hair in a tale in the back Convinced that he was destined for an easier plan If he could just get it back on track Young Carol came along with blond hair straight & long In a tie-dyed shirt and retro blue jeans More likely to lead a man than tag along Mark was sure he'd found the girl of his dreams Well they met one day at a local cafe For the first time in his life Mark had nothing to say Well maybe it was all for the better, per se Cause Carol looked so good that day She took his breath away! Well after seven nights and days and three invitations She decided she would give Mark a go Where this all would lead was anybody's guess With the question, would it be appropoe? But Mark said... Hey Carol... We're in the land of the free and I don't care what people say We can do most any thing that we please There's just one thing I need to know, before we move along Could you devote yourself entirely to me? And she said... I don't mind if I do! From that moment on they were joined at the hip They were two peas in the proverbial pod "Old Mark and young Carol" we've been known to quip "Man those two sure look kinda odd" But they'd say... "We don't mind if we do" Well they met that day at a local cafe For the first time in his life he had nothing to say Well maybe it was for the better, per se Cause Carol looked so good that day She took his breath away!
