The band was originally called All In One and was formed in the late 80s. A lot of the songs featured were performed solely by me or by me and a great singer called Michelle. We were heavily into New Jack Swing/hip-hop soul & Funk (Punkfunk), whereas (at the time) the rest of band believed that sort of music was going nowhere and just wanted to do UK soul. I wrote and performed all of the songs myself. A couple of companies attempted to sign us but being an ignorant group of black Londoners we imploded the second the contracts came through the post. I've probably written over 1000 songs and have a high "scrap-rate" because I'm fussy. I only like people to hear songs of mine that I still like a few weeks down the road.

Story behind the song
I was messing about with some chords on the keyboard, when I came up with a few progressions that sounded jazzy. The tune developed from there and it remained an instrumental for a long time before I got round to writing any lyrics. I got this girl called Caroline to sing it at first because she had a very jazzy style to her singing. In the end her voice sat on the tune like butter on bread. By the time I finished the music she had qualified as a lawyer and had little time to spend on music. Hence this version features my faint vocals, which were originally the guide vocals.
