Our early days saw soundtracks, Rock and even RnB but now Afflicted is predominantly a Hard Rock band. Afflicted can be described as the ultimate modern - old school incarnation of Hard Rock. Story behind the song
The musical style of STRONG is definately a tribute to the old days and shows how diverse AFFLICTED can actually be. STRONG is a heartfilled journey of emotion wrapped in an old school rock-soundtrack like progression. The lyrics are not crypted in any way which also emphasizes the contrast of the song. When you love someone, even the most severe problem prevents you from leaving.. On so many levels, STRONG's simplicity is what makes it send its complex message so clearly.. The underlying feelings and thoughts associated to each line, example: "to move on, I'm not that strong.." shows how someone who thinks of themselves as such a strong person can not overcome the embedded need to love. Even when the other person offers you nothing but their loyalty, it brings out a side of you that nothing can break, and as long as you're both trying to make it work, the bond will remain unbreakable.. I'm sure this song shocked many AFFLICTED fans and caused loads of contraversy amongst them.. But at the end of the day, we're not claiming to be the worlds HARDEST ASS, we're real people.. And just as easily we can hate someone, and express the negetive aspects of life, we feel we simply can't ignore the other side of the spectrum.. So love it or hate it, this is STRONG..
