Today I would say that Im more of a songwriter than a performer, although I do sing with a sixties rock and roll band in Denmark where I have been living since 1985. I was born i London but grew up in Lancashire somewhere between Liverpool and Manchester. I served my apprenticeship as a musician/singer in the Working Mens Clubs of Britain. Later I had a humble success with a band called Silhouette which involved touring the most of western Europe. Today I live with my wonderful wife, Trine on the island of Sjælland in Denmark (about an hours drive from Copenhagen) Please listen to my and feel free to comment.

Story behind the song
Early one morning some years ago, I was wandering the streets of Copenhagen. As I walked over a bridge near the main railway station I saw lying on one of the platforms, what looked like a bundle of old rags. On closer inspection I could see that it was an old man clutching an empty bottle of some sort. I was fascinated, not so much by the old man, but more by the attitudes of the commuters waiting for their train. They completely ignored him! I thought to myself that, "He might be lying there dead and no-one would care". What was worse, of course is that I was no better. I was also too wrapped up in my own thoughts and plans ("What a great song this could be!") so I´m ashamed to say that I didn´t go over to him either! Anyway, "The Waking City" is the song that evolved from this encounter. The Spanish feel started with me trying to get a rhythmn like a train on my acoustic guitar and just developed from there..... Dale Kawashima from Songwriter Universe, Los Angeles, said about this song: "This song has a good structure. Your verse melodies are well written, and your song title is positioned well in your chorus. I also like your chorus melody. Your song has a good arrangement; I like the acoustic guitar (sounds almost like flamenco) tracks on this song. It gives this song a different flavor and sound."
Lyrics
(Words & Music by Andy Goggin) © Andy Goggin 2005 The waking city turns off her lights, And closes her mind to the night. A frightened child, though he´s sixty-four, Lying asleep on the floor. Platform feeling cold, but the sun´s rising now. A handful of people turn into a crowd. An empty track, as the train´s late again. Crowd starts to grumble, necks start to crane... But Oh! The waking city smiles upon it all. Oh! The waking city pretends, just like a whore! The tired old man doesn´t move at all. He´s so still as the rain starts to fall. A lonely bird picks up the crumbs. A lonely man finally succumbs! His train came many years ago. The destination he didn´t know, So he took the easy way out, Tried it all but never found out......
