Story behind the song
My friend Kim suggested that I write a song about a Camel, so I did. Although I still know that she's kinda crazy (and I mean that in the most loving way possible), this actually turned out to be a pretty good idea.
Lyrics
Well I've been riding on a camel in the desert baby And I'm not sure why, but I think I know how Yes I've been riding on a camel in the desert baby And the camel seems happy that he isn't a cow Because a cow couldn't make it in the desert baby No, all that milk would just curdle and spoil I guess a camel's much better than a cow or a car Because a camel gives milk, but it doesn't need oil Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh Well I've been riding on a camel in the desert baby And my camel has a name, and his name is Pierre Well I've been riding on a camel in the desert baby And I don't know where I'm going but he's taking me there Now my stomach is rumblin' and the weeds are all tumblin' And Pierre never has anything good to say But we've got a great stench, and in the shape I'm in If the air weren't so thick I think I might blow away Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh Well I've been riding on a camel in the desert baby And I'm hot, and I'm dry, and I don't have a cause Well I've been riding on a camel in the desert baby Well I thought I saw you once, but that was just a mirage When I left the oasis, I was ready to ride Had a camel and some water, I was heading for you But now I'm dyin' of thirst in my camel spit sneakers With a hump up my butt, tell me, what can I do? Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh Bow, bow, wo wo-oh wo-oh-oh (Ridin' on a camel) -repeat

This song is a riot. No matter how many times I've heard it through the years, it's timeless!!! Btw, I posted a cover too, on my SC... Still, doesn't touch this. The drum loop alone puts my cover of this classic to shame... ok.... i've said enough, I think? Shannon Morris owns.
