Story behind the song

Believe it or not, I was motivated to write this because of a lesson in school.  Part of the required reading is "Things Fall Apart," by Chinua Achebe.  It's about the deterioration of culture due to imperialism.  It takes it title from a poem by William Butler Yeats.  The poem can be interpreted several ways, but in general it describes the falling away from a core.  I applied the idea to hip hop, the core being the ideal goal of hip hop (art, love, life), and the falling away from this core.
