Lyrics
THE LITTLE THINGS AREN’T SO LITTLE AFTER ALL
VERSE
I do not need dominion over the whole world at large,
Nor do I need to be a boss I feel flustered when I’m left in charge.
I like a life that’s simple it’s much easier to see
What’s most important to me so I try to keep my closet clutter-free.
I don’t need the hottest fashions from the mall.
The little things aren’t so little after all.
VERSE
I want to feel contentment. Is that truly much to ask?
When there’s excitement, sure, it’s thrilling, but sustaining it’s a futile task.
I’ll take the slow but steady steed to make my way about.
I do not want a thoroughbred who’ll burn the track before he then burns out.
It’s lucky to have a horse who likes his stall.
The little things aren’t so little after all.
BRIDGE
I’d not always thought this way; before it seemed so dull.
Now such peace of mind sounds comfortable.
I did not appreciate it when I was a youth.
Hardship helped me find this lasting truth.
VERSE
I met a gentle woman. She was dainty and so sweet.
Holding my hand, she told me, smiling, that I needn’t sweep her off her feet.
She offered loving kindness constantly throughout the day
But, I admit, I did take her for granted, so she packed and moved away.
Perhaps it’s because I failed to recall
The little things aren’t so little after all.
CODA
I’ve posted my newfound mantra on my wall.
The little things aren’t so little after all.
The little things aren’t so little after all.
The little things aren’t so little after all.
