Story behind the song
I often experiment with the way the brain works at the edge of conciousness. After I built my studio in the fall of 1998, I would record into the wee hours of the morning, often up until it was time for me to return to my day job, then do it again the next day. This song was played, recorded, and mixed at the very edge of exhaustion.
This song was an attempt to access the thought process as one falls asleep and was recorded and mixed with me, head on the DAW, about asleep-sometimes actually asleep. The vocal track was added afterwards as a way to make the piece a little more cohesive.
