A song that is inspired from my Scottish heritage. I love Celtic music!!
Christian Folk Singer/Songwriter Barb Harmatys invites you to visit her at Sound Click.
Hi. I'm Barb Harmatys and I live in a small rural community in Alberta. I'm a Christian singer/songwriter who grew up loving the folk "greats" of the 70's. I hope you like my music. I look forward to sharing it with you.
Story behind the song
I was trying to write a secular song for once, and being of Scottish heritage, I wanted it to be a celtic song. I had the first line, "As I went walking by the sea...", but as hard as I tried, I couldn't get any more words. As soon as I decided to write a Gospel Celtic song, the words came immediately!
Lyrics
As I went walking by the sea, my Lord He said, “Won’t you follow me?”
“A bigger catch you will not find - if you’ll fish for men, I’ll make you mine.”
(CHORUS)
So fare thee well, old life of mine. O’ fare thee well to you.
I’ll follow my Lord to the ends of the earth. I belong to Him, not you.
As I went walking by the sea, my Lord He said, “Won’t you follow me?”
“Just let me say goodbye to my kin.” “Come follow me now, or you may not get in”.
As I went walking by the sea, my Lord He said, “Won’t you follow me?”
“Sell all that you have for the pearl of great price. For I have come to give you new life.”
As I went walking by the sea, my Lord He said, “Won’t you follow me?”
“I died for you, your sins to bear. Just call on me and I’ll be there.”
