I like to think of songwriting as putting together a puzzle. Except some jerk mixed two or three puzzles together in the same box, and I just sorta force the pieces together whether they fit, or are even part of the same picture or not.

Story behind the song
I had a riff I was gonna steal from a friend, but then decided to make it sound like I ripped off Meshuggah instead. I really like Meshuggah. Then I added the rest of the stuff I was gonna put in the song, but realized, after spending too much time on the intro, that the tempo was way to fast for the other stuff, so I had to do a bunch of really annoying math to make things fit together. A some point I had to say "fuck it", and it's pretty obvious where in the song that occurs. I should just figure out how to change the tempo mid-song.
