Heretic is a pro-Pagan/Wiccan rock band whose music hearkens back to the glory days of '68-'79 when rock musicians were free to experiment with different musica
I've got some new equipment, yall!! ...And I'm expecting more later this year (I plan to buy the Roland VG-99 when it becomes available, then a real Gibson Les Paul, hopefully, a Custom). Still, though, my band is right now basically just me, a male singer who drops by occaisionally (Jason Perch),a Fender Player's Deluxe Strat, a Roland GR20 and a Digitech GNX 3000. I use a TASCAM FW-1082 as an Audio/Midi interface and control surface for the heart of my studio, the DAW SONAR 6 Producer Edition, on my new computer, assembled by Dell, a quadcore QX6700 with dual nVidia Series 8800 GTX's and 4 gigs of RAM. I use this badass system for all my comosing and lyric writing, and a few vocals. I mix a little classic rock, traditional music from the british isles (I'm a Renassaince Festival frequenter), and heavy metal. Everything I write, even if it has bells and tin whistles in it, has a definite edge. The sound I'm going for is something all at once dark and heavy, but also with a light feminine touch.

Story behind the song
This song is about the conflict between empire and the individual, and the search to truly be free. It's also about the denigration and denial of the Goddess (the divine Feminine) by the patriarchal, warlike church that sprang from Constantine's adoption of Christianity in the Roman Empire.
Lyrics
The Minstrel (words& music by Courtney Parsons (1999)) I've wandered through grasslands where wildflowers bloom Over the rivers, through forest gloom And deep in the caverns of doom In secret groves of sacred trees Stood in stone circles on misty eves Surrounded by fallen leaves Over the mountains and hills of yore Through snow-covered wastelands and fields of war Past wonders unseen before Ragged and wasted I've crossed the earth I've come through the fire and proven my worth Spiraled through death and rebirth I've witnessed great battles, ephemeral dreams The weeping of peasants, the sorrow of queens Their triumphs, laments, and their dreams Heretic poet, I've come to sing Of faeries and wizards and magic rings Castles and dragons and kings So come on and join in the wine and song The power of music can right all wrongs And bring back the joy that ye've lost So come all ye people and gather round here Our table is laden with Rivendell's cheer There's wonder and beauty and magic for all So come on won't ye heed the call? They call me the minstrel they call me the bard They call me the devilchild, the Witches' dark ward But I'm just a traveller, from far I hail An' I'll sing for my supper and ale I've fled troubled kingdoms before the storm Ran through the forest and fields of corn Straight through the night and the morn Defied the tyrants who rule these lands Langushed in dungeons built by the hands Of men in fear of the truth The sins of the father the sins of the sons The sins of the kingdom that can't be undone So cast down ye broadsword and cast down ye lance Come on and join in the dance The wheel keeps a-turnin' as seasons march on The cool breath of autumn, now summer is gone From Harvest to Beltaine we'll dance through the year To bite back the darkness and fear So come all ye dreamers, you're not alone And just like the heroes in days of old We'll suffer the Tyrants no more We'll fight with the Power that music gives Let it be known that magick lives We'll never be silent again
