This is a sonata I decided to write for a 6-string bass. I have never written a classical piece before and this was my first attempt. Pardon the poor recording quality and errors.
There really isn't a genre. Weird would work great.
I'm a soloist for now (until my other band gets some good material and ready to record).
Story behind the song
I felt like my whole life was repetitious. So, I wrote a musical story. I explain it in better detail in the lyrics.
Lyrics
The story:
In the first movement, we see things are slightly grim and almost hopeless for our young character. With time, he grows and in the second movement, he has an epiphany; he figures out some way to escape. But, just before the third movement begins, his plan is foiled and he is cast back into the life he was previously living. The third movement is similar to the first in that it is unpleasant, but different in the fact that there is a little bit of hope left. Our character knows he has not much time and must act quickly and unplanned. Without warning, he strikes, bringing about the fourth movement. Strong, powerful, and dangerous as it may be, he must succeed. But ultimately, his lack of planning leads to his downfall. No matter the path he chose, he could not escape his inevitable fate.
