Story behind the song
This is the very first version of Influence for Destruction to ever hit a microphone, recorded minutes after it was written back in September 04. Written with hangovers, sore necks and earaches from the hard partying at heavy metal club Sanctun the night before, the song was also played in complete darkness for added effect. This recording also features our old vocalist Kesh Young (www.myspace.com/thefirststepsakiller), who faced his share of opposition from a lot of supporters of the band vocally. The lyrics, which caused conflict within the band, told the story of the death by fire of the group in both first and third person, which was a rather interesting lyrical concept. Never fully developed, the verses speak in first person of all 3 members deceased and in hell, angry and the world that decived us, while the chorus assumes the role of a news reporter reporting our deaths, and painting our parents in the picture as possible suspects for those responsible. The lyrical theme was fucked up to say the least, and after Mike nearly set his room on fire whilst asleep less than a week after the song was written and with the realisation that Adils kitchen nearly burnt down and killed him whilst he was asleep, there was conflict within the band on the controversial lyrics. It would not be a problem for long however, as things were all about to change…
