Story behind the song
This piece, like all the songs from "New In Box", came about in response to growing anxiety in our culture about "everything". From the current war to financial dissillusionment. Despite it's seemingly mild rant it is a hopeful song. It's about standing on your ground, though everything around us may seem to be unglued. It's also about the possible fact that things are not what they appear to be.
Lyrics
1) Some people think they've got it made in the shade with a 5 year plan Soon discover that there really was no plan at all Still others beleive in a system of arcane delight Sweet tradition proven in times of misery Even more invest in a lifetime of reality In 15 minutes, you too become the apple of Eve Even more put their hope and trust in contingency plans While the oldmen draw the plans for tommorow's royalty As the price to be alive multiplies by 5 prepare to die We will soon see what the end's game really means(is) refrain:1 I believe there is more to it than we've been told I believe the one day we will truly be free Midsection: At the crossraods Left or right More or less A question right When the hour arrives Will you be ready? Willing and able? Tiny demons and tiny angels Rest on your shoulder One or the other When the hour arrives Will you be ready? Willing and able? At the crossroads guitar solo Try as you might You won't get ahead Though you got God's hand Though won't rule the land! 2)So get up and wipe that mud off yourself and stand up tall And face the wind and find what is That's the long haul! refrain 2: I believe that one day we will be in paradise Just like 2 robbers on the other side of Christ I believe that there's more to life than contingency plans Than a portfolio from a dow jones industrial man I believe in the way to life, into paradise I believe in the path to love I'm not afraid to lie open to your scorn No, not afraid To take a hit for he, who saves I believe that we'll be living in paradise I beleive there's no feat that can be outdone
