Story behind the song
Written in memory of my niece Lindsay MacIver. She passed away from cancer at the age of 21. The idea came to my mind when I visited her at her home and she layed on the couch, in pain, having to self induce her pain killer while a smile crossed her face. All the finishing touches came to me under the stars, camping along the Blue Ridge Parkway. I went home and recorded it, finishing it only a week prior to her passing.
Lyrics
Goodnight My Angel
Verse1:
Lying awake, eyes upon me
Deep inside there’s a teardrop, but a smile’s set free
Comes a time when all need to find a new way
A new destination of peace I pray
Chorus:
Imagine your heaven is a Blue Ridge in the sky
Where the mountain walls will cry
But not a teardrop’s in your eye
Imagine your heaven is a river running clear
There is nothing more to fear
All your dreams will be so clear
Verse2:
So much to say, So much to do
So little time that I spent here with you
No matter what, No matter where
You’ll be my angel till time disappears
Repeat Chorus
Bridge:
Close your eyes
Don’t be afraid
Goodnight my angel
Good night my angel, goodnight
