Stone Mountain Crew creates and plays only original songs. In the genre of reggae, rock, acoustic, folk and somtimes completely genreless music.
Original Music is the name of the game... Tired of the repetitive music on the radio, I set out to create an all-original style. I have been playing (mostly acoustic) guitar and singing for about 6 years now. No offense to the cover bands out there, but I tend to shy away from any covers because of my own writing. I am only at the meager age of 20, but I like to think the music doesn't suffer from it :-) Because of the music originality mentioned before I have never met a person who could pinpoint the genre of Stone Mountain. The Arkansas Times classified my music as "...unique rock/modern-folk sound" when I competed as a semifinalist in the Times' Musician Showcase 2005 (a competition featuring original music only). They described Stone Mountain as, "..competitive, not to mention fun.." during our performance in February On some of the tunes I had a drummer and bass player sitting in with me, but they had other priorities in their lives beside the music. Now we have a new drummer--Congo Phredd--and a new bassist--Tophat Monkey! We are working on new recordings--which we will eventually get up on this site. Until then--we hope everyone enjoys what we have here

Story behind the song
The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien & The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King and my own insights.
Lyrics
Tired of things he couldn’t define, His purpose is what he set out to find. He read of quests, journeys of old, Battles for light, and battles for gold. And so he set out, On that mossy autumn trail, To wander in the forest till his final quest, It was unveiled. By the time he reached the town, You know his skin had turned a reddish brown. His weathered shoes coughed the dust of the road. He truly was a tired soul. His fatigue he could not tend, Till he reached the tower at the end. And so the people he ignored, For his quest of pride and quest for sword. Well he reached the clearing at the end of the path, His purpose becoming apparent at last. Nextabol Canyon lay before his feet, The purple waters and the sound so sweet And when he looked inside, He was shocked at what he would find, His purpose was to live and laugh and, Enjoy the treasures of the past. What he came to realize it wasn’t the end, But the journeys the prize. Don’t rush through life for same intangible goal, Laugh and drink, and nourish the soul. Because I know what will make better memories still, To look back on experience and know I got my fucking fill. Lyrics by Geoffrey Myers- November 2004. All rights reserved.
