Story behind the song
Copyright 2005 Maine Street Unlimited Maine Street is very proud to present a new single recorded in March 2005 at Peps Studio in Windsor Maine. "Wondering" is a beautiful power ballad that has a neat story behind it: In 2003 Stephanie (Dave's step-daughter) wrote a poem for the "Night of the Stars" contest for Montello Elementary school in Lewiston Maine. She was only 11 years old at the time. She won an award for the writing and was honored at an annual event at the school. Dave, after having read it a few times, thought it made an excellent idea for a song or a chorus or something, and gave a copy to Sabrina who also loved the poem , the idea and the feelings behind it. They thought it would be really cool to write from it and surprise Stephanie with a song that they would actually perform. Sabrina added verses, a bridge and and had some ideas for the music... and that's where the writing process for "Wondering" ended....until a sunny day in March of 2005. On song writing day, Sabrina and Dave rediscovered "Wondering". It was taken out of the notebook and after a couple false starts, it took on a life of it's own...taking just an hour to complete. In a very real sense it seemed to write itself and an incredibly heart wrenching, powerful song was born. One that captures the feelings and confusion of something that everyone goes through at least once in their life. And it all came out of a beautiful little poem written by an 11 year old girl.
