Story behind the song
Great Muscle Shoals song
Lyrics
Greenwood,Miss. Been on the road for such a long time, Met a lot of women but I leave 'em behind, I wanna go back to the place I love, Magnolia smells sweet and white cotton grows, Cho. Take me on down, Take me back to the counbtry Take me on home to Greenwood, Mississippi Now oh, farmer John lives right down the road Works in the field carryin' a heavy load, But he don't worry about a thing Sweat rollin' down his face, Not feelin' no pain. Repeat Cho. Now Betty Jean Smith, said she'd wait for me, Yeh, I caused her such misery, Left her cryin', didn't wanna go, Was looking for something I had a long time ago. repeat Cho.
