Story behind the song
I recorded this on either new years eve or Christmas eve on my panasonic Boombox back in 1981. My family left the apartment around 8pm and the cassette tape was a TDK 90 minute tape (45min each side).
I set up my boombox with the cassette tape at the very beginning and pressed record and play when we where just getting ready to leave the aprtment. I would only get 45 minutes because my old boombox didnt have auto reverse (1981)
The tape used before the recording for music but i dont beleive the sound or voice at end of clip was a remnant from a earlier recording. The "voice at end of clip was at the very end of tape which is very annoying to me. If i had waited a few seconds more when i pressed the start button i would have recorded the sound more. There was nothing of interest during the entire taping. Like i mentioned the strange voice was at the last bit of the 45 minute tape.
Over the years I accidently recorded over the tape with music and thought i lost the tape forever. But a gew years ago i went through my old tape collection and listened to the ending of all my old D-C90 TDK tapes (white label with red/black stripes so it was easy to spot them)and was releived to find this recording.
Now remember this, I recorded this tape in 1981 before there was coast 2 coast radio. I remember listening to a radio program about ghost recordings on a local New York City radio station WBAI. I do not beleive they called it EVP recording way back then. Too bad i didnt record that program.
