Hi folks. I have added a lot of videos recently. Please take a look!
Hi folks, This site acts as a personal archive of my work. So you'll find my best recordings here as well as some pretty crappy ones. The earliest recordings here were made on simple cassette decks, others were made on mobile phones, some are live recordings made at various gigs over the years, a handful were made in small recording studios, but most of the more recent ones were made at home on a Zoom portable studio, which itself is now rather ancient! If you like a song and want to download it, click on 'Full song info' for that song and you will see the download link. You can also read the lyrics and any background information on the songs that I may have added. All my music is available for free - enjoy :) cheers, Charles

Story behind the song
While I was having a ball living in Mendocino I got a letter from my friend Alison in the UK saying how unhappy she was living in London with her mother.... this is the song that letter inspired. The recording is from my album 'An evening with Charles Tyler' recorded live at the Caspar Inn on March 15 1983.
Lyrics
Take a plane to San Francisco Catch the Greyhound bus for Mendocino And call me when you reach the Seagull I'll meet you there You've been a long time runnin' Just tell me that you're comin' You've got to get a hit of this Northern Californian air It was sad to read your letter 'bout living with your mother How you'd given up hope And nobody seemed to care Well honey you don't need to wear a frown And if livin' in London brings you down Then hop on that plane And high-tail it over here Oh Alison - I wanna hear your laugh I wanna see that same sweet smile That shines in your photograph Oh Alison - you know you're not alone And when you say goodbye to England Baby you'll be comin' home Comin' home I've been working - waiting table Selling pizza and cola beside the ocean Singin' for my supper When the season really starts to roll I'm sometimes short of money But my friends are sweet as honey And maybe some millionaire Will send me to the Hollywood bowl We've got trees that grow forever We've got everything together If only the government Would trip into the twilight zone No honey you don't need to wear a frown And if livin' in London brings you down Then hop on that plane And come and catch a rolling stone! Oh Alison - I wanna hear you laugh I wanna see that same sweet smile That shines in your photograph Oh Alison - you know you're not alone And when you say goodbye to England Baby you'll be comin' home Comin' home! Oh Alison - I wanna hear you laugh I wanna see that same sweet smile That shines in your photograph Oh Alison - you know you're not alone And when you say goodbye to England Baby you'll be comin' home Comin' home!
