Story behind the song
Working for a living sucks. Being taken advantage of by the man. Taxes, wars, killing. Got to get away!
Lyrics
Verse 1 Friends for sure yes friends galore Down on that tropic isle Don't get stranded you'll be abandoned In the northern mercantile When the job gets rough and you've had enough Look at your boss and smile And tell him you're going down to Normans just to hang out for a while. Verse 2 You must do this, you must do that The northern culture says We must play songs but they must be wrong cause Bob Seeger is not the best They bend you down and spin you around And then they want you to smile tell him you're going down to Normans just to hang out for a while. Bridge Going down to Normans going to have some fun MacDuffs Revenge with some extra rum Going down to Normans just to clear my mind Spend some time in the warm sunshine Verse 3 We'll write them long We'll write them short We'll write them how we want Don't need a crowd of hangers on Don't want no debutantes Just pen and pad and our guitars Is really just our style Going down to Normans and write some songs for a while
