Story behind the song
Two years ago, July 2003, I was at a conference and heard a colleague share about his wife’s prolonged illness and death. Toward the end of her life he was sitting with her one day, holding her hand, and gently kissed her and then asked her how he could pray for her that day. Her answer was, “Ask the Lord to take me away.” He then paused as he was speaking to us and said, “How do you pray at a time like that?” The song wrote itself. Copyright © 2003 by Wes Marlin
