A unique blend of jazz, neoclassicism, expressionism and Spirit.
When God gives you a gift you have two choices: Use it for your own glory or share it for His glory. The latter is better.

Story behind the song
What, you've never been lonely? One of the things I hate most is wanting to dine with a special someone and yet finding myself dining alone --at a dinner for one. In this setting, Cadet Chapel organist Lee Detra is playing the score at the piano in the Chaplain's Conference Room, Washington Hall, USMA, West Point. Additional vocals were added in the DIR studio in El Segundo, CA.
Lyrics
Just save the candles Don't need the roses And leave the crystal on the shelf Turn on the stereo; don't turn the lights down low 'Cause no one will be dancing slow tonight You can have your firelight Create the mood that's right And then pretend that you're in love But when the morning comes What will await you? Just the dishes and the ashes from a dinner for one Traces of memories left scattered in my mind Can't reach, tomorrow's just an inch beyond my grasp Another lonely day Send me an angel I pray that God will save me from a dinner for one tonight A fancy French cafe overlooks a golden bay The velvet clouds across the sky A happy valentine pours another glass of wine Hello someone, won't you please be mine Beneath the evergreen, beside a flowing stream A quilt is spread upon the ground A wicker basket, 'bout as close as you can get To the mem'ry of romancing at a dinner for one Traces of memories left scattered in my mind Can't reach, tomorrow's just an inch beyond my grasp Another lonely day Send me an angel I pray that God will save me from a dinner for one tonight Just save the candles Don't need the roses And leave the crystal on the shelf Turn on the stereo; don't turn the lights down low 'Cause no one will be dancing slow tonight You can have your firelight Create the mood that's right And then pretend that you're in love But when the morning comes What will await you? Just the dishes and the ashes from a dinner for one The dishes and the ashes from a dinner for one The dishes and the ashes from a dinner for one tonight Copyright 1989 John Scott/DIR Music www.dreamintoreality.us
