I wrote this song back when the US first invaded Iraq. I might have written it with Iraq in mind, but it speaks for all wars past and present.
Lyrics
All these lies and everything
Has taken its toll and made its sting
Just so a couple of guys can have there way
So much death and destruction
Many of our friends, now there gone
Bombs exploding around them everyday
Whats this war we're fighting for
And why can't we just close the door
None of this is just for your stupid chore
Come back, Come back home
Where you are should be no more
Everybody is here waiting for you
Come back, Come back here
There's yellow ribbons round the trees
And on the porch waiting is your girl
We havn't made many friends
Cuz all the things we've done were bad
Maybe we should just end it today
Maybe we could hear there thoughts
Try and figure out whats wrong
Then maybe one day we can shake there hands
Whats this war we're fighting for
And why can't we just close the door
None of this is just for your stupid chore
Come back, Come back home
Where you are should be no more
Everybody is here waiting for you
Come back, Come back here
There's yellow ribbons round the trees
And on the porch waiting is your girl
