I wrote the lyrics, couldn't come up with a good tune; so I turned to Cees...he's a master!
Stan loves music, is published (EMI/Capitol), and has experience performing on radio and TV when it was live in the good old days. These days he's just writing
Songwriter of pop, country, inspirational songs. I like to write. I travel a lot to Asia...so my music may have an Asian influence.
Story behind the song
I was reading a book calle The Marcos Dynasty by sterling Seagraves. He used the phrase "walnut shell game" which inspired me to write this song.
Lyrics
The Chameleon In You
Copyright Stanley Loh March 23, 2005
VERSE 1
You play with love like a walnut shell game,
You hide it so well, I’m growing insane,
When you’re cold, my day becomes a blur,
When you’re warm everything is clear,
You’re great for a spell,
Then I’m back in a walnut shell,
Moving around so confused,
I hate the chameleon in you.
VERSE 2
You make me pay when you turn to blue,
Then you call to say I love you,
My heart will melt, we’re happy for a while,
Then it’s like a bloody turnstile,
With nowhere to go,
With your mind I will never know,
Oh give me a clue,
I hate the chameleon in you.
BRIDGE
Girl, I ain’t no toy,
Your game is no joy,
But underneath your shell,
I feel that all will be well, will be well.
(Music interlude)
VERSE 3
Am I a fool to be emotional?
Is it too soon to build our world?
I have counted the months, the picture’s incomplete,
I need to know there is no deceit,
The words that you say,
I believe there will come a day,
And that’s well overdue,
To take the chameleon from you,
