Capn' Woody writes and produces Spoken Word pieces from the poems and lyrics that wander his mind!
Hello, Clippers sailed on many a journey, I invite you to journey with me ---- I am a simple man who has journeyed near and far. My experiences have taken me to foreign lands and across the country. One constant has guided me, there are great people and great beauty everywhere. I work in the education arena now but my career has spanned many fields. I have loved, laughed, struggled and cried. My foundation is set in a belief of more good than evil, more fair than not, more time for admiration, less time for hate. May you enjoy my work and may we make beautiful music together someday. Story behind the song
People today forget what our country's roots are. It's not rooted in democracy but in a constitutional republic. We, the people, control government, government was never suppose to control us!
Lyrics
Lift up your polling voice-- So you don’t have to lift your guns. Don’t let our nation fail-- Don’t be one of the ones… Who just don’t seem to care-- Long as their able to survive. Their not happy at all-- Their time is spent engulfed in whine. Turn back time… …just 230 years. What do you find? Founding fathers facing fears. Standing up as patriots-- Or protesting as traitors? Telling the empire their through Being told what they must do. No more taxing without a voice, No more stomping on their liberties. Yet the parliament proclaimed-- We’ll do what we want, for you are our colonies. They shouted back, “We’ll take it no more!” “Welcome to our revolutionary war!” The empire sent the soldiers in, Knowing there’s no way these farmers would win! Fighting broke out across the 13 lands, Families facing tough decisions. Boys turning quickly into a trembling militia, While leaders lead them to avoid a noose. Benedict spun his version of spin, Thinking he better change if he were going to win. Yet from deep inside their souls, These farmers became framers of this new land. Lift up your polling voice-- So you don’t have to lift your guns. Don’t let our nation fail-- Don’t be one of the ones… Who just don’t seem to care-- Long as their able to survive. Their not happy at all-- Their time is spent engulfed in whine. Tune back time… …back to our modern world’s years. What do you find? So few willing to face our fears. Federal government so strong-- All protestors are traitors! Don’t dare tell the congress you’re through, Better listen, better do! Far more taxing from our elected voice, Far more stomping of our liberties! As the officials proclaim We are a democracy, not merely colonies. But Jefferson himself said we are never to be A democracy for it was merely mob rule, Where fifty-one percent took the rights from forty nine! A constitutional republic is our history! We, the people, are too hold the power over congress, They do not control us, we control them through votes! Why do we hear them say democracy? That is truly what they wish us to be! Is that the same as your desire? Do you care if we fail and slide into mob rule’s fire? Or will you stand tall, face the government with pride, …restore our founding father’s dream every polling day! Lift up your polling voice-- So you don’t have to lift your guns. Don’t let our nation fail-- Don’t be one of the ones… Who just don’t seem to care-- Long as their able to survive. Their not happy at all-- Their time is spent engulfed in whine.
