The Stars and Stripes Forever
"This was a grand undertaking in my development while learning about home recording. I searched for a conductor score which would provide all the necessary orchestral instrumentation. 4 weeks later and nearly 370 multi-track overdubs..."
Guitar driven classical interpretations.
Most of my selections are in the Public Domain as I am modernizing some of our favorite classics with only the electri
For many years music has been the guiding light as a form of expression and creativity and it is my hope and desire that the talents given to me may serve as point of inspiration just as other's before me have encouraged and challenged my desire to develop and realize my dreams.
In my experience as a musician I have discovered a way to "give back" to the music community that has enriched my appreciation for the arts.
Story behind the song
About this project::
This recording project was quite involved as I had to transcribe/transpose most of the instrumentation to suit the guitar's tonal range. Many of the parts had to be extensively rehearsed as the execution had to be precise as possible, especially the Flutes and Piccolo's in the Fourth Section.
The instrumentation of the orchestra was divided into three sections:
*Winds - Flute, Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon
*Brass - French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba
*Strings - Violin, Viola, Violoncello, Bass
There are 4 major sections in the piece, and to emulate a complete orchestra I have in most case taken each line written for that instrument and recorded 3 or more tracks to create a "wall of sound"...
With this in mind, at any given point in the track you will be hearing a culmination of at least 60 to 70 tracks of guitar..!
Lyrics
Let martial note in triumph float And liberty extend its mighty hand A flag appears 'mid thunderous cheers, The banner of the Western land. The emblem of the brave and true Its folds protect no tyrant crew; The red and white and starry blue Is freedom's shield and hope.
Other nations may deem their flags the best And cheer them with fervid elation But the flag of the North and South and West Is the flag of flags, the flag of Freedom's nation.
Hurrah for the flag of the free! May it wave as our standard forever, The gem of the land and the sea, The banner of the right. Let despots remember the day When our fathers with mighty endeavor Proclaimed as they marched to the fray That by their might and by their right It waves forever.
Let eagle shriek from lofty peak The never-ending watchword of our land; Let summer breeze waft through the trees The echo of the chorus grand. Sing out for liberty and light, Sing out for freedom and the right. Sing out for Union and its might, O patriotic sons.
Other nations may deem their flags the best And cheer them with fervid elation, But the flag of the North and South and West Is the flag of flags, the flag of Freedom's nation.
Hurrah for the flag of the free. May it wave as our standard forever The gem of the land and the sea, The banner of the right. Let despots remember the day When our fathers with might endeavor Proclaimed as they marched to the fray, That by their might and by their right It waves forever.
