I wrote this song originally in December 2002. Since then, I have redone it along with the drummer Frank Basile, www.LiveStudioDrums.com.

Story behind the song
War, especially an unjust and illegal one, is always bad.
Lyrics
Two bullies with their chests pushed out
Drawing their lines in the sand
Looking for something to fight about
Drawing their cards dealt from god’s hand
Spin doctors tell us what they want us to hear
We must make war so we can make the peace
These weapons of mass destruction we fear
Designed deployed and staged for release
The more that these things change
The more that they seem to stay
The same
There’s no doubt that we’d be waging war
It’s more of a question of how many wars we would wage
I’m not sure what it is we’re fighting for
It’s all designed for the political stage
There’s no end of enemies in sight
Their rage and passion raised to the boil
Yet the first place we go to pick a fight
Is land over vast fields of oil
The more that these things change
The more that they seem to stay
The same
There’s no sound to rally round
Like the saber’s rattle
There’s no call stronger than
The hue and cry for battle
There’s no passion more powerful
Than believing you are right
Yet all they do is blind you
To the light
I long for Gandhi and Martin Luther King
They could make change by doing what was right
We’re stuck with Bush and his war thing
The only thing he sees is what is in his gunsight
Peace forced by war will never last
It’s just tyranny in another form
For every life lost in a bomb blast
The seed is planted for the next gathering storm
The more that these things change
The more that they seem to stay
The same
