Artist picture
It's called Maximum Honky Tonk, and no one plays it like Bob Wire. Country, blues, rockabilly, folk, and some good ol' rock and roll. Honest, smart and funny.
Funniest blog on the web? Judge for yourself at NewWest.net/BobWire. You won't regret it. I swear. This is Butt-twitchin' country music for adults with a brain and a sense of humor! Bob Wire writes catchy, original songs with a twisted perspective that puts him way out in the left field of Nashvegas. Bob sez: Hank Jr. is the disease, and Hank Sr. is the cure.

Story behind the song
I was born in Orange, California, and I have great memories of Southern Cal as a kid. I really love seeing photos and movies of Los Angeles, circa 1940-50.
Lyrics
Twenty million people driving 20 million cars Got the air so hazy, you canÕt even see the stars Endless summerÕs waiting where the desert meets the sea But thereÕs no room left for natureÑhave to watch it on tv Grandpa moved his family here back in 1948 Came here in their pickup truck with Oklahoma plates He used his G.I. benefits to buy a little house in Silver Lake Now heÕs in Las Vegas where the people arenÕt so fake Chorus Welcome to our dirty paradise The osprey and coyote pay the price As long as thereÕs an angle and a profit to be made If thereÕs a marsh that we can bulldoze and a mountain we can grade WeÕll keep on pouring concrete Ôtil the sun begins to fade Welcome to our dirty paradise It started with Mulholland and his water-stealing scheme He built the L.A. Aquaduct and he realized his dream He drained the Owens Valley, and dried up all those family crops But Southern California has a thirst that never stops This used to be all orange groves and limes and lemons too Sweet smell of citrus on the breeze, it was a comforting perfume But the money men smelled dollars signs and they tore out all the trees Put up crackerbox developments with names like Orchard Creek Chorus Welcome to our dirty paradise The osprey and coyote pay the price As long as thereÕs an angle and a profit to be made If thereÕs a marsh that we can bulldoze and a mountain we can grade WeÕll keep on pouring concrete Ôtil the sun begins to fade Welcome to our dirty paradise Welcome to our dirty paradise Welcome to our dirty paradise
