Story behind the song
Driving through Chesnee, SC and saw a blue canopy set up in a cemetery. Got me to thinking about the person who was buried there, what their life might've been like, and how fast their time must've flown.

Time

Big blue canopy, fresh dirt underneath,
Family gathered round, tears falling down,
Heaven finally called her home, we all knew this day would come,
She lived a long, full life, but still it’s hard to say goodbye,
Seconds, minutes, hours, days,
We’re busy, living, and time ticks away,
Weeks, months, years, gone,
I give thanks for every breath I take,
Cause time ain’t gonna wait,
A newborn baby’s cry, the gleam in her mama’s eye,
She crawls, walks and talks, and grows with every mark on the wall,
High school, college, on her own, finds a man and he’s the one,
She’s wearing mama’s wedding gown, her baby girl’s a grown up now,
Chorus
We’re not promised one more day,
We can’t let precious moments go to waste,
Chorus
