Story behind the song
This song was originally done in early 2002 as a bonus track on Mic-B's "I've Been Altared". I sing lead and B harmonizes with me on the background vocals. Everything was composed and recorded on the spot (except for the actual lyrics). This one's kinda sad. You can almost feel the vocals dragging as if carrying some heavy burden. It's about highschool days when cats had labeled me the "nice" church boy. The ladies weren't trying to feel me on the gentleman thing. They all wanted thugs and bad boys. Naturally, I became depressed by the lonliness and different ones talking mess about me. Thank God for deliverance from THAT garbage. This was literally recorded in someone's living room on a Roland VS-1680. I was tired, but too depressed to sleep. Looking back in retrospect, I can't help but laugh. This song has a sort of "moan" to it. No piercing vocals, no extensive runs, just pure heartfelt emotion. To me, it sounds like I'm about to cry.
