Lyrics
the choice © 2005 Mary Lou Sudkamp and John Voorpostel I saw a tragedy, a woman died today she made her final choice and slipped beneath the train I swear I saw a smile settle on her face she seemed quite peaceful with the choice that she embraced with darkness falling both were hurrying back home mom and daughter arm in arm and chatting away the 8 o clock was early out of baltimore heading for the women as they cut across the rails they must have heard the whistle blowing coming fast some sixty seconds maybe more before it came momma stumbled, and her foot lodged in the tracks both had to face the hardest choice they ever made momma knew her fate and looked into her daughter's eyes said I'll always love you, please save yourself and run we'll meet again some day and stand beside the Lord but the daughter knew for both of them that day had come I never saw a love quite like that a daughter's love can sometimes be like stone but here I saw it beautiful and shining in her eyes she wouldn't leave her mother there alone I saw unselfish love, a suicide today a daughter hugged her mom and slipped beneath the train I swear I saw a smile settle on her face she seemed quite peaceful with the choice that she embraced
