Mostly 12 string guitar and vocals. A longtime folk singer performing the act that's kept him out of the bigtime for years.
I began my musical career in the 70's, playing trumpet and guitar, and singing. This site contains mostly that act, which has kept me out of the big time all these years. I played full-time professionally for eight years, until I realized I preferred my meals .... you know, .... daily.

Story behind the song
Back in the days when I was performing on the road, it was not uncommon for things to go wrong. Gigs got cancelled, buses broke down, drummers bailed in the middle of the night. This song explains a little of the attitude that got us through all that - and still does.
Lyrics
CHORUS I'd rather be makin' mem'ries than livin' them. The good ol' days were never better than now. Lookin' over my shoulder at how things used to be Is the best way that I know to stagnate me. Verse 1 I remember when I was a rookie on the road, Seein' all the world there is to see. The situations weren't what you could label as "the cream", But, Lord! The things that fill my memory! Verse 2 There were times when everyone would want to pack it in, But they could not see the forest for the trees. When partners gripe about conditions or where they might be, Just say, "Shut up, Man! We're makin' memories!" CHORUS Verse 3 Then there was those three months solid, Playin' one night stands. "Set it up! Tear it down! Tear it down! Set it up!"-- all week! But when I tell that story now I laugh from start to end. And, retrospectively, it ain't so bleak. Verse 4 And it hasn't been so long now since I've been out on my own. Playin' towns I hardly could pronounce. Experience has shown, when there's some place you'd rather be, This policy is one you can't renounce! CHORUS Verse 5 There ain't no way that I could do a desk job 9 to 5. That kinda life just wasn't meant for me. The time will come when I will have all kinds of tales to tell To a grandkid who'll be sittin' on my knee. Verse 6 And I hope there comes a time when I'm a ripe old 99, Even if I've gout and shaky knees, If someone in the old folks home thinks things ain't up to snuff, I'll say, "Shut up, Man! we're makin' memories!" CHORUS
