Story behind the song
We all have our bad poetry from high school, our emotional screams and sighs that we dignify as art. This song tells the story of an affluent, ignored, self-pitying girl inspired by Sylvia Plath. The ending is open to interpretation: does she commit suicide? Does she create that elusive Truly Beautiful Poem? Is her death a symbol of beauty and art, or just a self-indulgent scream? Whatever your take, you can probably relate.
