Story behind the song
Based mostly on my own life and a recent revelation that I can't do everything on my own, I thought it would be interesting to write about it since I believe the idea touches on a lot of universal truths and values.
Song was recorded and produced by Phil Mark (radioinsectrecords.com), and features Dave Cheng on guitars.
Lyrics
- Operator -
written and composed by John Paul Sunga
I used to think that life was full obstacles
Obstacles that I could overcome
In time I would come over there to see myself
But I was elsewhere, no where to be found
And I think I knew that I was wrong
And I think I knew that they were right
And I think I knew that I was not
The only one
Operator,
It's me alone now
Kill the dial tone
Just talk to me, Just talk to me
Operator,
I know you're out there
Sitting, waiting there for someone else
There's no else but me
Just close your eyes
Just you and I
I used to think that I was indestructible
Destruction was the key to my success
And what I did succeed into was nothingness
A nothing that was something, I confess
And I think I knew that I was wrong
And I think I knew that they were right
And I think I knew that I was not
The only one
Operator,
It's me alone now
Kill the dial tone
Just talk to me, Just talk to me
Operator,
I know you're out there
Sitting, waiting there for someone else
There's no else but me
Just close your eyes
Just you and I
And I think I knew that I was wrong
And I think I knew that they were right
And I think I knew that I was not
The only one
Operator,
It's me alone now
Kill the dial tone
Just talk to me, Just talk to me
Operator,
I know you're out there
Sitting, waiting there for someone else
There's no else but me
Just close your eyes
Just you and I
