This number is a tribute to the "Sons of the Pioneers" ...a classic cowboy ballad...lonely as a blue coyote moon.

"The songs I sing and play search me out. All I have to do is open myself up...open that foggy window to the soul. They find their way in on the breeze." -Michael Hawkes Michael Hawkes writes and records all of his material. He believes song writing is both cathartic and fulfilling. Story behind the song
I've always loved the 3 part harmonies of the early western genre. The Sons of the Pioneers were so damn tight with their vocals, I just love it. I enjoy doing all the voice parts myself, its a real kick. There's a lonely sort of mystery about the desert..like the ghosts of broken hearted cowboys are still croonin' to the moon. "Spanish Angel" is a timeless song about love, loss, sacrifice, and pain. -Enjoy.
