BANTER is a band which combines modern and classic rock sounds in most refreshing ways.
Banter rocked the clubs and airwaves of the Northeast United States from 1996-2004 with a catalog of songs infusing everything from folk and punk and Arabian drones into a unique brand of rock that defies classification (OK, fine, call them alt rock if you must). Their lyrics range from musical paintings of places that have affected their lives (and ours), as found in songs like "The Fort," "Springtime in February" and "Three Weeks," to themes of angst and paranoia as tackled in "Lowered" and "Farewell." Their CDs, which include the highly acclaimed EP and their full-length album , brought the group international attention with reviews in places as remote as Bryansk, Russia and chart success in France. BANTER has performed throughout the Northeast United States from New York to New Hampshire and has championed the New England media from magazines to TV.

Story behind the song
Often thought to be a song about visiting the dentist, "Open Wide" is in fact referring to one's mind, and seeing beyond the obvious. This song is not about drugs. The music consists largely of Arabian-style drones played on distorted guitar.
Lyrics
Can you feel the music calling? Can you hear the echoes of the sound underground? Temperatures rise as tempers fall Can't decipher anything at all Here comes the fall Step aside and open wide Take another look inside See the fear from which you hide Such a curiosity What it does to you and me To see beyond reality Can't you see there's no denying? Ignorance the underlying cause for the applause Movements will rise as curtains fall Actors line up for the curtain call Oh, the appall! Step aside and open wide... See them lined up against the wall Unaware of what they have become But not for some Standing in lines on which they're drawn Can't decide just which side to be on Another pawn Step aside and open wide Take another look inside See the fear from which you hide Such a curiosity To see beyond reality And what it does to you and me
