industrial pop, "Mutilate the Baby Jesus"
mostly one-man project born 1995 died 2000
Trash Scene was a mainly a one-person bedroom-studio project from 1995-2000
Story behind the song
In defense: the song was intended to be offensive, and was written as a joke with a friend James, who was somewhat if not wholly responsible for the most graphic depictions of infanticide. It was inspired partially by taking the humor of the Baby Jesus riding a motorcycle described in a Sheep on Drugs song one step further. While obnoxious blasphemy is nothing new in music, I believe the gleeful manner in which the infant is tortured and graphic nature of the description is what pretty much everybody I know, not counting James, was offended by, and not because of the religious content. Certainly the mothers of small children were not pleased by the baby-torture. In the same manner that Goth Booty later did, I think a lot of people I knew didn’t see any humor in it at all and decided I must be a complete asshole, and as usual for most projects we do together, James managed to duck the blame. Torture, blood and gore are something I have little interest in, and were simply included to flesh out the one-dimensional joke of titling a song “Mutilate the Baby Jesus”. I got a lot of hilarious email when this song was made available, but also alienated a bunch of people.
