Story behind the song
The opening track from our latest demo, "The Miseries Never Cease" starts with a bang. A midnight ride, rebellion, burning the homes of the oppressors. The leveling spirit is all but gone now, but in times past, it brought people to their deaths and tyrannies to their knees.
Lyrics
To cleanse wealth and find a new system
Working for the common good
Without stifling excellence
Achievement, the way forward
Progress, creation, success of a nation
See fires, burning, in the distance
See fires, burning, it's your home
Into the throes of revolution
With people pushed so far that blood must be shed
What other option is available
When there's no hope left
The pain of striking down your own brother
I would hope never to have to face
But there is a world where sometimes it is inevitable
And that world is one occupied by the human race
See fires, burning, in the distance
See fires, burning, it's your home
The level spirits like history did before
To breed dissent and pave a road to war
Give men no choice and a leader will arise
To challenge pride and forge a cause to fight
Can you stand in judgment and plead innocence
Do you trust the virtues of your own policy
A monumental certainly that this path is righteous
Or does this give us a glimpse through a window into hell
Be careful not to back yourself into a corner
Words only go so far to save you from mob
There will be no pity when you're up against the wall
The level spirits like history did before
To breed dissent and pave a road to war
See fires, burning, in the distance
See fires, burning, it's your home
Leveling spirit, a truth by told
This spirit is burning, it is dying to be free
