The Bent Strings are: Paul Mckendrick Just a rough mix of songs I wrote and recorded as a hobby. Patience and Persistence are NOT to be under rated. Actually I love the songwriting process, it's recording that I'm not too fond of, but there are usually surprises along the way. Anyone wishing to do a cover, remix, or whatever is welcome and encouraged, just send me an email.

Lyrics
July 10th 1943, our fathers landed on Sicily First time away from home, headlong into the great unknown The tensions grew and the noise got higher, one by one baptism of fire Survivors kept on pushing through, against a strong & determined crew This is the Greatest Generation and I have to agree There’s no one gonna fill their shoes and that’s quite clear to me. Scorched earth all the way to Rome, the colors bled into monochrome Ortona still had a lasting smell; the Gothic line was another hell A change in plans for a second landing, a break in action for those still standing Lost so many along the way, off to France to live another day Chorus In late 44, throughout Netherlands It was the coldest winter in 50 years, and starvation The Hunger Winter took many lives; it was mainly the young and old. The Dutch and Soldiers helped one another, battle thru the cold. In February 45, in east Netherlands The battle hardened red patch devils, worked towards an end. The liberation was felt worldwide, in celebrations The mighty Nursing Sisters stayed behind, in clearing stations. Chorus
