You Are My Chorus grew out of a deep, genuine expression of love and devotion to the Lord. I wrote it to articulate the joy, gratitude, and wonder I feel for God’s constant presence and sustaining care.

Story behind the song
You Are My Chorus was written as a quiet, personal offering a simple love song to God that grew out of gratitude rather than performance. It came from a place of recognising how deeply the Lord has been present in my life, leaving “no stone unturned in His care, even when I was unaware of it at the time. The idea of God being the chorus emerged naturally: the part of a song that returns again and again, carrying the heart of the message. In the same way, I realised that God is the constant refrain of my life the anchor when my spirit sails, the assurance when everything else feels uncertain. No matter the verse, no matter the season, He remains the centre. Verse two reflects lived experience. I have known what it is to try to live without God, and I have felt how quickly the world can consume and exhaust the soul. That contrast made the truth unmistakable: God is not an addition to life, but the very fountain that sustains it. Writing, producing, and performing this song alone turned it into an intimate act of worship rather than a polished statement. You Are My Chorus is my way of pouring out love, joy, and praise a declaration that the Lord is not only the subject of my song, but its most beautiful and enduring part.
Lyrics
You Are My Chorus. Verse 1: It’s a simple song to tell You that I love You For all the wonders You’ve done. I can’t contain this joy within meoh, how I love You; You’ve left no stone unturned. Pre-Chorus: Over the moon, my spirit sails, For You are the shore where my soul is anchored. Take all of memy heart and my soul; You are my hope and my assurance. Chorus: This is the chorus, Lord, where I pour out all my love and endless joy. You are my chorus, Lord the sweetest part of my life, yes, Lord. Receive all my praise, O Lord; let Your mercy and steadfast love overflow. You are my chorus, Lord the beautiful One in my life, yes, Lord. Verse 2: What could I ever do without You, Father? You’re my whole world The only fountain that sustains my soul. I once tried to live without You, Father, and the world nearly devoured me; You are the One who nourishes my soul. *Pre-Chorus + Chorus* Copyright 2025 Richard Shekari Written, produced and performed by Richard Shekari.
