Singer-songwriter, arranger and producer: acoustic contemporary folk but ranging into rock/blues/country/jazz/humour...all very eclectic, I'm afraid!
Martin Stirrup Singer/songwriter An old folkie who got back into it... These days I sing and play guitar(s) and other stringed instruments, then score and orchestrate where appropriate. My taste becomes increasingly eclectic ranging from finger-picked folk through country to soft rock mixed in with a few more alternative and eccentric numbers, including the odd novelty foxtrot...

Story behind the song
This was one of the first songs Roger Brawn and I tried to record as its open structure lent itself to broader arrangement. It features Rogers lead guitar as well as my fold-up harmonium. The vocals and acoustic analogue guitar had got lost in the overdubbing so I've overlain new versions - quite a task as the original was tuned to the old harmonium - about 3/4 semitone sharp and the tempo was a bit wobbly!
Lyrics
I hear the words that youre saying floating through my head I see the images playing but I float away instead What do you do when Im drifting away from the line Tapping my foot in time as I play with a rhyme My eyes are focussed upon you what is it that I see A light that radiates from you a light that touches me Lighting a distant way opening up the day Guiding my thoughts so that they can take all that they may Raindrops fall upon our caravan and windows trickle with the sky Above it all theres a mystic land refuge for the thoughts that fly
