Story behind the song
SPACE 56 is more than a band. It is a galactic transmission. Formed on Earth but rooted in star-born ancestry, the members of SPACE 56 carry the latent DNA of ancient alien visitors who first colonized our solar system eons before the Great War fractured their interstellar civilization. Hidden among humanity for millennia, they have awakened to a cosmic mission: to reconnect the scattered descendants of the stars through music, vibration, and story.
Their sound is a swirling fusion of psych-rock, space-funk, and cosmic folk, but it is their choice of instruments that truly channels their alien lineage. The 12-string guitar produces shimmering overtones that mimic the harmonic frequencies once used in communication by the colonists of the fifth moon of Asteron. Its layered, ringing tone is not just melodic: it is a beacon meant to awaken memories in other starborn souls.
Meanwhile, the Fender Bass VI, with its deep yet articulate range, acts as a grounding force. Its six-string structure allows for both rhythm and melody, a duality that echoes the balance of creation and destruction, which is central to the origin myth and message of SPACE 56. It pulses like the heartbeat of a forgotten homeworld and creates a central physical connection to the techtonic drums that were formed in the forges of fjords of the dwarf star Kakkabu.
The slide guitar communicates the astral assonances of meaning. In a language with a grammar unknown to all but astroethnomusicologists, the singing quality helps those on Earth receive the wisdom of each phrase without knowing the words. The vibrational content of each note floats above the Pythagorean constraints of temperament allowing the receiver to astrally project out to the most distant strands of the furthest supercluster without leaving their home planet.
SPACE 56 exists to awaken memory, to call the descendants of the first colonists back to their purpose, and to prepare Earth for reentry into the cosmic federation long silenced by the Great War. Their music is the first signal flare across the void: equal parts elegy, anthem, and encoded map.
