Story behind the song
Fogerty spelled it out perfectly with this rockin' rant against the US military-industrial complex. Eisenhower warned us about the "Complex" at the end of his presidency. Fogerty wasn't just railing against conscription with this song, but also the whole structure by where elites, invested in the armaments industry, enrich themselves through government spending. So now, with Ukraine being the first fully modern war, they've already spent as much supplying weapons to Ukraine, as they did during the entire 20 year Afghanistan war. They'll want to replace the depleted weapons stockpiles, and they'll be stuffing their pockets with the weapons manufacturer's rising stock values. They're not going to win the war, but winning would just be gravy. However, this time it's backfiring. Sanctions are hurting Europe, and to some extent America, more than Russia, and the depletion of weapons stockpiles is beyond NATO's replacement capacity. It's being said that in the US military, officers can't rise above the rank of Colonel unless they conform to the dictates of the military-industrial complex establishment. During WWII there were only seven 4 star generals. Now, there are forty-four 4 star generals riding the gravy train, commanding a much smaller force. Of course, little to nothing of this appears in the mainstream press, but people like former senior Pentagon advisor, Col. Douglas MacGregor, explain it all if you search him out.
Lyrics
Some folks are made born to wave the flag Ooh, that red, white and blue And when the band plays Hail to the Chief They point the cannon at you It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no senator's son It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no fortunate one Some folks are born silver spoon in hand Lord, don't they help themselves But when the taxman comes to the door The house looks like a rummage sale It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no millionaire's son It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no fortunate one Some folks inherit star-spangled eyes Ooh, they send you down to war And when ask 'em how much should we give They only answer more, more, more... It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no military son It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no senator's son It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no fortunate one It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no fortunate son It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no millionaire's son It ain't me, it ain't me...
