Tell you a story of two father's sons
This all really happened a long time ago
in a land that is seared by the middle eastern sun
Did I mention this story is true?
Isaac was the apple of Abraham's eye
the son God had promised to he and his wife
at an age when a man is way past his prime
And the wife of his youth was old too
Isaac was a young lad his age is not told
his father was over 100 years old
with a faith in his God that was famously bold
that impressed the young lad as he grew

His father said son we've a God given task
and we've got to be faithful, we've got to move fast
to the land of Moriah to a mountain that only God knew
His father said son we must make a burnt offering
You carry the wood up the hill here with you
Isaac saw in his father a sadness that he never new
Did I mention this story is true?
Isaac said Dad we've no lamb for an offering
in a trembling voice Dad said God will provide
and he built there an alter and bound Isaac's hands to his sides
At the throat of this son he so loved this Dad held a knife

And Isaac could have easily escaped from his father
who had grown to an age that few men ever do
yes he could have refused his request but he didn't
what else is a son who has faith in his father to do
one hand at the throat and a knife in that hand
God said Abraham. Abe said God here I am
God said don't hurt the boy for I know that your faith has been true
and all the world's nations one day will be blessed cause of you

And right there before them, hung in a thicket
was a lamb without blemish that God did provide
and Isaac grew old and was part of the blessing
That God in his love would provide for mankind
Many centuries later on that same Mount Moriah
