Come evening I aspire
To capture hold of my dreams
Images fleeting by
Tucked behind slumber land’s screen
With paper and pen beside my bed
Gossamer visions fill my head
I wake and quickly grab my pen
To find they’ve slipped away again
Like rainbows floating past
Appearing ever so near
Just beyond my grasp
Emerge and then disappear
Hid behind a smoky veil
They leave a vague, elusive trail
Impressions of another place
Where hopes and fears are safely faced
Tonight I’ll drift away
To worlds unknown and unseen
And hope by light of day
To capture hold of my dreams.
