Story behind the song
This is the only song in my entire library that I completely wrote both the lyrics and music in one full day. I wanted to write about life, and what it takes to get from point A to point B. No matter what happens, it's always our destiny. The choices you make suddenly becomes your past, and forever it's written that way. Lessons are learned, and we can only try to make better choices each and every day.
Lyrics
Lyrics and Music written on August 31st, 2002 (1st verse) Life isn't fair, with all the twists and turns it gives you, decisions that you have to make. No matter when or where, there's so much pain you have to go through, how much longer does it have to take? *(Chorus) Out in the distance, on the horizon, there's an image, so plain to see. For it's the future, soon to be the present, and when it's the past, it's our destiny. (2nd verse) I want to know, why do we have to get so hungry, why do we need food to keep us alive? I got to know, why we drink water when we're thirsty, is it that we live just to survive? * (3rd verse) I can't believe how much things change but stay the same, moving forward, our progress breathes. And when it breathes, our heartbeat will never change, contradiction, reality.*
